Bruce Grady has previously led Emergency Management Queensland during the most intense period of natural disasters in generations.
He is an accomplished and highly experienced senior executive and leader. Playing a critical role in Queensland's disaster management arrangements since 2006, Bruce has a substantial track record of achievement in creating resilience through effective preparation and planning as well as operating in high pressure, high profile response and recovery environments.
Bruce has been a trusted strategic and operational advisor working directly with the Premier and Senior Cabinet Ministers; government and private sector CEO’s; and senior executives from many industry sectors and disciplines. His experience, critical analysis, and no-nonsense implementation of strategy has seen Queensland achieve world class preparation, response and recovery from 28 extreme storms, 26 Tropical Cyclones, 25 major river floods, marine oil spills, biosecurity outbreaks, human pandemic threats, and many more.
Most notable was the pivotal and public role Bruce played in the response and recovery for Queensland’s 2010/11 'Summer of Disaster" floods and Tropical Cyclone Yasi.
